Another field in which SOCAR Petroleum operates on the market in Romania and neighbouring countries such as Hungary, Bulgaria, and Greece is that of the import, resale and distribution of products from the petrochemical industry.

Methanol

SOCAR is the exclusive distributor for grade A methanol. It is produced by SOCAR in Azerbaijan in its own production facility, both for the Romanian and neighboring markets.

SOCAR guarantees genuine quality from the production phase to the customer delivery point through more than 250 dedicated railcars as well as marine fleets owned and operated by SOCAR.

Our main goal is to deliver our customers’ requests on time, and the objective is ensured by SOCAR’s significant storage capacities available at the Black Sea.

Methanol is REACH certified and complies with IMPCA standards.

Logistical support: transport insurance can be done for a fee, with dedicated and specialized tankers, insured and in accordance with the laws in force.

Polyethylene and Polypropylene

Our company is very active in the production and distribution of raw materials for the plastics industry and beyond, with products from the polyethene and polypropylene range.

Both products are available in a wide range of subtypes and densities, with propylene having applications such as injection, raffia, thermoforming, and film, while low and high-density polyethene has applications such as injection, monofilament, film, pipe, and extrusion.

These products are manufactured both in Azerbaijan by the SOCAR Azerkikimya Production Union group company and through third-party distribution from Europe and Asia.

Granular Urea

SOCAR Petroleum debuted on the agricultural fertilizer market in 2019, when it brought the first ship with high-quality granular urea to the port of Constanța.

At the moment, SOCAR is a distributor of granular urea used as fertilizer both of its own origin, from the company-owned SOCAR Carbamide Plant in Azerbaijan, and of other origins, such as Turkmenistan.

The product is generally delivered to ports in Romania, both from the Black Sea and the Danube, the transport being provided by SOCAR.

Others (IPA, MEG, etc.)

SOCAR Petroleum has recently also entered the market for the distribution of secondary, but no less important, petrochemical products, such as IPA and MEG.

This type of product is generally distributed from various dedicated storage locations located mainly in Azerbaijan and Turkey.

SOCAR organizes both the transport and the fulfilment of the related customs formalities so that the customers benefit from the product at the location, ready for use.
