SOCAR in Romania
SOCAR Petroleum SA is a subsidiary of SOCAR (The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) that entered the Romanian market in 2011.
History of SOCAR
As the traveller Marco Polo wrote in the 14th century, the people of Azerbaijan used oil for medicinal purposes as well as for export to neighbouring countries. A turning point in oil production was reached in the 19th century, and in 1847 the first oil wells were drilled.
Social Responsability
SOCAR complies with the current applicable legislation regarding the environment, occupational health and safety, food safety, as well as any changes in Romanian or European legislation regarding its own processes and activities, thus maintaining a balance between social, economic and environmental requirements.
